Cyclorama

CD Moody Construction began work on the Cyclorama in 2015. The Cyclorama is one part new construction, one part historical preservation/renovation. CD Moody Construction moved the existing historical items to their new 23,000 sq. ft home at the Atlanta History Center. Firstly, CD Moody Construction relocated the Battle of Atlanta painting. In addition, CD Moody Construction moved the historic locomotive, Texas. These historical items journeyed from the Grant Park location to the Lloyd and Mary Ann Whitaker Cyclorama building. The new Cyclorama building also hosts historic artwork from the city and surrounding Southern region.

Atlanta United Training Center JV

The Atlanta United Training Facility is a joint venture project between Holder Construction and C.D. Moody Construction. The training facility totals 30,000 sq. ft. Additionally, it is both a training facility and headquarters for Atlanta’s soccer team. The building hosts multiple locker rooms, in addition to a full-service kitchen, conference rooms, as well as offices for the front office. Outside, the facility has six practice fields and sits on thirty-three acres in Marietta, Georgia.

Olympic stadium and Turner Field

Originally built in 1996 for the Olympic Games, the Olympic Stadium became Turner field and thus the home of the Atlanta Braves from 1997 – 2016. The 209 million dollar project, with a capacity of 50,000, was a joint venture between Beers Construction, H.J. Russell and C.D. Moody Construction Company.

Maynard Jackson International Terminal

The Maynard Jackson International Terminal project required extensive pre-construction, design coordination, and procurement services. The project encompasses Construction of a new International Terminal building for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport.

CDM tasks included:

-supporting facilities and interconnection with existing airport facilities
-extensive site work
-grading
-retaining wall work to prepare the building pad as well as aircraft operations areas
-constructing an underground connector to existing International Concourse E
-constructing tunnel extensions as well as new station facilities for the Automatic People Mover (APM)
-reconfiguration of existing baggage claim and customs facilities in existing Concourse E
-constructing a precast parking deck facility at the location of the new Terminal
-arrival and departure facilities and
-baggage handling as well as customs facilities including integration to the existing airport

The new construction and roadway modifications to existing Aviation Blvd became Maynard H. Jackson Blvd servicing the new terminal and the Maynard H. Jackson Jr International Terminal consisting of 10 new International gates. Furthermore, work at Concourse E involved renovations to the existing facility and maintaining all facility operations and airfield operations at Gates E15-E18. Additionally, the project is also pursuing LEED Silver Certification. Holder is the managing partner of this joint venture project which further includes Manhattan Construction, Moody Construction, and Hunt Construction.

Downtown Atlanta Parking Deck

CD Moody constructed the Government Center Parking Deck for the City of Atlanta in 2007. The five-story, open-air garage includes 852 spaces and has multi-level entrances on the first, second, and fourth levels.CD Moody designed the parking structure to boast a unique design nestled into the side of a hill, giving pedestrians the illusion of a modest height deck. The parking garage is user friendly, as the three entrances allow commuters easy access to four major arteries. The deck also boasts three glass-enclosed elevator towers. You’ll find them located on three of the four corners of the deck. CD Moody Construction also included 2,000 square feet of management space into the parking deck.

Tuskegee University Tompkins Hall Renovation

CDM renovated Tompkins Hall. The hall includes a new dining hall and student union with Strutter’s eatery. The dining hall consists of approximately 73,000 square feet of student dining and reception, student center, student government offices, retail/business spaces, mass communication center and FEMA shelter.

Ray Charles Performing Arts Center

The Ray Charles Performing Arts Center is the latest addition to the Morehouse Campus and is named after the 12-time Grammy-award winner who was known in the music industry as the “Genius.” Charles’ relationship with Morehouse began nine years ago when he was invited to Atlanta to perform with the College’s jazz ensemble. He received an honorary degree from Morehouse and became a long-time friend and supporter of the College.

The building is located on the corner of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard and West End Avenue and boasts 76,000 square feet and 2 stories. It includes the 650-seat Emma and Joe Adams Concert Hall, named for Charles’ long-time manager Joe Adams and his wife, Emma. It features a new Steinway-D Concert Grand piano, and the building also includes an electronic piano lab, which includes 16 electronic pianos; a composition lab with preproduction workstations designed to teach students the art of arrangement and production; a listening acquisition lab; a motorized orchestra pit; 12 faculty studios; nine practice rooms; two rehearsal rooms and three academic labs, including the David Geffen Keyboard Digital Music Lab and a state-of-the-art digital/analog recording studio. There also is space for about 200 people to sit on blankets immediately in front of the stage on The Eugene Mitchell Performance Lawn area on the backside of the building.

R L Brown & Associates, Inc., the Owner’s in-house architectural professionals, and Merke & Hill Consultants, Inc. have developed an impressive facility for Morehouse College and the surrounding community.

Atlanta Metropolitan College Academic Sciences Building

The new Academic Sciences Building is an efficient, modern facility with a superior long-term cost benefit ratio and state-of-the-art technology that supports the educational goals of the institution. The building provides approximately 50,000 gross square feet of space for the College’s Science and Teacher Education Programs. The building houses approximately 15,000 square feet of lab space, including both wet lab and comport lab space. Approximately 8,000 square feet have been allocated for a multi-purpose/assembly space. The facility includes approximately 17,000 square feet of general classroom space and approximately 10,000 square feet of administrative space.

Morehouse Leadership Center

This project is a 74,000 s.f., five-level building for Morehouse College. The building has two wings. The first is a one-story wing, which includes a 308-seat auditorium, 10,000 s.f. conference center, and a 20-foot pre-function colonnade area, which connects the two assembly spaces. The other wing is a four-story, classroom-style faculty office and tiered lecture room, which has a state-of-the-art computer lab.

Renovation and addition of 37,098 sf for Museum Renovation

Renovation included the existing museum complex inclusive of new front entrances, food service, exhibit space and expansion of pre-function space for the ballroom.
